Some things are worth building slowly
20 May 2026
I used to build everything fast. Hackathons, weekend projects, an idea on Friday and something that runs by Sunday. I still do a lot of that and I like it. It's the quickest way to find out whether an idea is any good.
But some things don't work that way, and I've stopped trying to force them.
When you rush, you make most of the decisions on autopilot. You ship before you really know what you're making, and you miss the parts that turn out to matter. Building slowly is mostly just paying attention. You notice when something feels off. You notice when the easy version isn't the right one. You give yourself room to change your mind.
It's slower because it has to be. You keep at it, you keep paying attention, and eventually it turns into something you actually understand. That understanding is the whole point, and it's the first thing speed throws out.
